BOLENG, Feb 21: Deputy Commissioner Siang, Atul Tayeng undertook a 3-day official tour on foot to Payum circle from February 17-19. Payum Circle which was set up in the year 1959 is one of the remotest circles of Siang district. The circle headquarters and many of its villages are yet to be connected by road and electricity. The CO Hq Payum is a four hours foot march from the last vehicle point.
During the visit, the DC inspected various Centrally sponsored schemes and State-sponsored schemes inter-alia PMJKY, BADP, JJM and RD programmes. He asked the concerned agency department to speed up the work for its timely completion especially those of last mile projects and to strictly adhere to the guidelines and DPR.
At Payum & Gaseng village, the DC interacted with the villagers and listened to their grievances. He took stock of the PDS, health, ICDS programs and the status of schools. The government welfare programs and assistance on health, education, ICDS, RD etc were also shared with the villagers.
Due to the lack of road connectivity delivery of PDS items has been one of the major problems for the villages, The DC has mooted the idea of providing and introducing mule service to carry ration on trial basis for the remote villages.
The DC also inspected the CO office and the PHC at Payum and interacted with the medical staff on the availability of medicines and status of vaccinations and other health programs.
At Gaseng village which is a 6 hours foot march from Payum CO Hq, the DC inspected the school, Anganwadi centres, JJM project of PHED and BADP projects along the way, mostly hanging bridges and CC steps.

Medical Team was conducted at Payum and a Disaster awareness camp was held at Kerang ang Reying.
