YUPIA, Jun 28:Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Dr. Joram Beda reviewed the disaster preparedness of Papum Pare District in view of the ensuing monsoon season today. While briefing the objective, he said ‘we must be very serious about the disaster scenario of the district and in the wake of last year’s incident we must remain active and alert during the monsoon period as the district is also a disaster prone area’. He called upon all officers to work in close coordination and keep updated during the monsoon period.
While interacting with NDRF officer, DC requested him to conduct mock drill on disaster preparedness in coordination with DDMA to sensitize people on importance of disaster preparedness during any emergency.
During the discussion DC also informed that the District Emergency Operating Centre (DEOC) at Yupia will be set up at DDMO office to monitor and supervise during any emergency and a weather forecaster to keep updated on weather condition and will be widely circulated among officers.
He further instructed the SDO(S) to give order to all administrative centres of the district not to permit leave to officers and staffers during the monsoon period as a preparedness measure.
SP Papum Pare Tumme Amo also gave presentation on the disaster response system of Papum Pare Police Department and while sharing the experience of last year incident at Hostallam and Laptap, he said that during any disaster time local people are very active and cooperative in search and rescue operations and hence, in the district disaster plan local volunteers at village level must also be included.
Dy.Commandant 12BN NDRF Ranjan Daimary also said that NDRF needs to be properly updated during any disaster and assured full support. Dy. Commandant 31st ITBP also assured that ITBP is always ready to help and support the district administration during any disaster.
