PASIGHAT, May 14:Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak today launched the “eRaktkosh” web portal for the Blood Bank at Bakin Pertin General Hospital which is a central government initiative to digitalize all licensed blood banks in the country.
Needy persons can login to www.eRaktKosh.in and look for availability status of blood in any Blood Bank in the country. Mobile app eRakhtKosh can also be downloaded from Google play store or Apple App Store to use the facility.
The DC launched the portal during a blood donation camp organized by the Kepang Erang Yameng Kebang(KEYK) with technical assistance of the hospital marking the auspicious Etor Gidii festival. Reportedly 137 volunteers registered their names of which 36 were found fit to donate blood.
Formally inaugurating the donation camp, DC Tamiyo Tatak appreciated the effort and laid stress on creating awareness and motivating people to be active members who can provide relief to human beings during an epidemic or natural calamities.
Blood is a scarce resource. There is a huge gap between demand and availability, he opined adding that blood cannot be manufactured rather it only comes from generous donors. Tatak highlighted the importance and benefits of blood donation and said that such camps would go a long way to minimize the paucity of blood in health institutions.
Later, the JDHS Dr. D. Raina during a visit to ‘Blood Component Separation Unit’ (BCSU) informed the DC that necessary infrastructure is ready but awaiting required equipment from the government to make the unit operational.
