KHONSA, Feb 11: Deputy Commissioner Tirap, Taro Mize has called for conservation of fisheries resources like rivers, streams etc, and requested the people to take up responsible fishing without harming the ecosystem.
The DC was speaking at the one day training programme on In- situ conservation of indigenous fishes of Tirap district cum constitution of Tirap District Fisheries Development Society was conducted here today. The training was conducted by the Assam Agriculture University, College of Fisheries, Raha in collaboration with the District Fisheries Development Office, Khonsa, Tirap and sponsored by the National Mission on Himalaya Studies, Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Govt. of India.
Mize also requested to frame the District’s Five Year Plan and District’s Yearly Plan routed from PRI’s and District administration.
SP Tirap Kardak Riba while speaking on the occasion stressed on the need of local NGOs to step up to check on illegal fishing using dynamite and chemicals and over exploitation of natural water bodies and also emphasized on the regulation of the Arunachal Pradesh Fisheries Act, 2006 and its implementation.
