PASIGHAT, Jul 23: In view of excess speed-breakers constructed along National Highway-13 from Ruksin to Raneghat, a coordination meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, East Siang Tamiyo Tatak.

Addressing the meeting, the DC informed that at least 33 speed-breakers in between Ruksin and Raneghat are found to be unauthorized and create hindrance in the smooth movement of vehicles.

‘Such unnecessary speed-breakers could be reason for accidents on national highways. Moreover the concerned authorities must clean roadside jungles/bushes on regular basis and put mandatory marks and signboards as  road safety measures,’ said the DC while instructing the District Transport Officer (DTO) and police to also intensify vehicle checking.

“Every citizen must follow the guidelines framed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Moreover, Border Roads Organization (BRO) and highway authorities must deliver their services freehandedly and preferably remove all speed breakers on NH-13,” said Superintendent of Police, Prashant Gautam.

The  Deputy Commissioner constituted a ‘Verification-cum-Advisory Committee’ involving engineers of BRO, Highways, CBOs, Magistrates, Gaon Burah’s (GBs) and student leaders with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pasighat Tatdo Borang as its Chairman and DTO (MV) as Member Secretary.
