NAHARLAGUN, Apr 23:Raising concern over the increase Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) from 30% to 36% in the state, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Dr. Tapasya Raghav has stressed on data reporting and focus towards pregnant women citing them as two crucial areas.

She also urged staff nurses to motivate the ASHAs of their area to encourage pregnant mothers for availing Ante Natal Care since ANC check-ups is linked to both maternal and child health which is an area of concern and needs to be focused.

Speaking at the 3-day Induction/Orientation Training of new recruits both Technical and Non-Technical Staff under NHM which commenced today, Raghav said another important area that needs attention is Line listing of Pregnant ladies for which she urged the trainees to ensure they maintain and update it in their respective areas. She further encouraged the nurses to record and report maternal and child death if any without any fear. She also advised them to attend monthly ASHA meetings being held in their districts.

Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) being an important programme under NHM, she encouraged the nurses to be involved during screening of school children in the districts. She further touched on subjects like Lakshya which she informed has been launched in 6 districts initially which will extend to more districts later. Speaking about Kayakalp award consisting of monetary benefits which was recently awarded to few districts, she encouraged the trainees to try and extend their help in achieving the award for their district.

She also spoke about many other programmes in the pipeline like Diarrhoea Control Fortnight to be held in June, Deworming during September and Special Intensified Mission Indradhanush to be completed by December 2018.

The different components under National Health Mission was shared and elaborated by all the Nodal officers.

The training will be conducted in two separate batches for newly recruited Staff Nurses and for newly recruited Medical officers (Allopathy/Ayush/Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram), Consultant (Human Resource & Rashtriya Kishore Swasthya Karyakram), District Programme Manager, Administrative Assistant, State Coordinator and Ophthalmic Assistants.
