TUTING, Jun 18:The Tuting District Demand Committee (TDDC) in its general meeting held today reiterated creation of Tuting District by bifurcating Tuting ADC HQ (subdivision) and its adjoining areas from Upper Siang for better administrative control and public convenience.

Justifying its demands, Chairman of TDDC, Nima Sangey addressing the meeting stated that the creation of Tuting as new district will facilitate much needed socio-economic development of the people living along the international border.

According to Sangey the Tuting Sub-Division has five administrative circles namely Gelling, Singa, Palling, Megging and Tuting with 50 villages, more than 10,000 population, 1580 households, 3 ZPMs, 17 ASMs, 63 GPMs spread across 4,210 Sqkm.

Moreover, Tuting Sub-Division being a strategically important area located on the international border covers more than 146 Kms along the China border, Sangey added pointing out that its up gradation is administratively and politically crucial as the area lags behind other districts in terms of development.

Since the present district headquarters of Upper Siang is too far away for the people of the area, he further noted that its up gradation to full-fledged district would make communication convenient for locals besides lessening the administrative load.

In this regards, the committee unanimously agreed to place its three point resolution adopted in the meeting before the state government and hoped their demand would be treated as genuine.  All the Panchayat leaders, GBs, public leaders, officers, officials, businessmen and public of Tuting Sub-Division attended the meeting.
