ITANAGAR, Jul 22:

Expressing disappointment over non-register of an FIR lodged against CMD NEEPCO at Police station, Lower Subansiri, the RHEP MoU demand committee has requested the state government or concern authority to direct the Superintendent of Police (SP), Ziro to register the case and initiate legal action against the CMD as per law.

The Committee has cautioned that it will be forced to resort to democratic means of protest to press for their demands against Lower Subansiri District administration.

Addressing a press conference this afternoon at Press Club, Chairman, RHEP MoU demand committee, Taba Techi informed that on May 30 last, the committee had lodged a complaint against CMD, NEEPCO at PS, Ziro for furnishing wrong information and misguiding the state government that the NEEPCO had recruited 179 locals from project affected area in various posts.

However, Techi claimed that as per documents obtained by the committee, most of the names of employees mentioned in the list were either dead, retired or do not exist in reality.

Techi informed that even names of few Non-APST were mentioned in the list and there are repeated entries of same name.

Questioning the SP, Ziro for not registering the FIR even after passage of two months, Techi alleged that despite providing sufficient and foolproof evidence, police failed to arrest the CMD and initiate any action.

“There should be legal proceeding against the CMD for misguiding not only the people but the government also. And Police should register an FIR and put him behind bars,” added Techi.

Furthermore, the Committee also hailed the Government for the assurance to fulfill their long pending demands in the recent tripartite meeting held on July 20 last.

On behalf of project affected people of 13 villages, the Committee expressed gratitude to Sagalee MLA, Nabam Tuki, Yachuli, MLA, Likha Saaya in particular CM Pema Khandu for the support and ending their miseries.

However the committee asserted that it will keep watch on the movement and decision of the Government on its assurances to project affected people. The future course of action will depend on the outcome of resolutions that will be taken in the next meeting of the state government at the Centre, added the Committee.
