ROING, Nov 27:Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein said the government believes in equal and parallel growth of all communities and religions in the state. He said this while speaking on the inaugural function of Christmas Football Trophy 2017 at Rayang Village in Roing today.
Citing youths as the future and the strength of society, Mein exhorted them to come forward and shoulder the responsibilities in fighting against the issues confronting society. He said that today’s youths are more equipped with the modern technology and exhorted them to be committed and decisive and come forward to discuss social and developmental issues with the senior leaders too, he said.
Addressing the drug menace that is prevalent in most of the eastern districts like Tirap, Changlang, Longding, Namsai, Lohit, Anjaw,Dibang and Lower Dibang Valley Districts, Mein called for concerted effort to tackle the drug menace and also to find an alternative source of livelihood for them.
Mein said that agriculture & allied sectors can boost the economy of the State and called upon the people to take up activities under these sectors. He said that he will call three days meeting on agriculture and horticulture to discuss the suitability of crops in various districts of the State and to introduce cultivation of such crops as per the suitability index.
He said that Arunachal Pradesh is passing through a transitional stage in terms of connectivity and with the completion of three major bridges, namely Bhupen Hazarika Bridge, Alubari Bridge and Lohit Bridge over Lohit river, the connectivity in these belts has improved a lot and urged the people of the area to take full benefit of the connectivity by taking up income generating activities.
Asserting that foothill areas have developed well, he said the government is also committed to bring development to the border areas. He informed that the state government has already sent a proposal for a Frontier Highway to the Centre.
He also lauded the contribution of the Christian Missionaries in the field of education and social development especially in the early stage of Adi Literature. He further called upon the Christian Community to contribute in the development of society by their good works.
Responding to the memorandum submitted by the Rayang Dolung Kebang, he assured to take up the upgradation of Rayang Middle School to Secondary School and also ensure water supply to the School.
Mukut Mithi, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) announced to provide fund for construction of a Rostrum from his MP LAD Fund for the year 2018-19 in the Rayang Football Ground.
