BOMDILA, Oct 6:The much awaited Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) Laboratory was established and inaugurated today in the Department of Geography of Government College Bomdila.

Inaugurating the RS & GIS, Principal S Khandu hoped that the lab would provide an enhanced framework for learning all the disciplines by the students and facilitate their ability of critical thinking and problem solving skills.

HoD Professor Dr. GC Panda in his introductory address highlighting the importance of the GIS said that it is a powerful tool not only for the students, educators and researchers alone but also for administrators as well. The GIS introduces a person to a new way of visualizing the world around him, he added.

Earlier, Assistant Professor TD Megeji expressing his happiness over the development of the department in the last few years congratulated the college administration and the UGC for the asset vital for the department and the district as a whole.

Assistant Professor H Suyang of the Department of Geography also spoke on the occasion.
