ITANAGAR, May 31:The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) on Thursday extended its solidarity with the people of Assam who staged a 11-hour hunger strike on May 28 against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
In a release, the PPA while refusing to take more burdens of outsiders has criticized the BJP-led government in the state for indirectly supporting the Centre’s attempt to amend the bill while maintaining silence.
Referring to statement made by the chief minister that “we don’t need to worry about the bill” the PPA termed it ‘incredulous’ when the whole Northeast is opposing the Bill.
The PPA later warned that it will resort to democratic mode of protest if government fails to initiate any action against the Bill.
