ITANAGAR, Aug 10:The Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh State Food Commission, Joram Begi emphasised on the need to ensure Food Security, immediate issue of Food Security Rules and activation of Vigilance Committees to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA/13).

Begi, who is also the Chief Commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission, was speaking at a meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Higher Education for the preparation of Annual Report pertaining to the State Food Commission, today.

Emphasising on an early preparation of Annual Report of the State Food Commission, Begi instructed the line department to prepare department wise report within 10 days time. He also placed issues requiring utmost attention in the proper implementation of the Act in the State through three departments viz. Department of Food & Civil Supplies, Department of Women & Child Development, and Department of Elementary Education.

Nanom Jamoh, Commission (APIC)-cum-member of Arunachal Pradesh State Food Commission while sharing her experiences of the recently conducted district tours of the Commission, highlighted number of impediments in proper implementation of NFSA/13 in the State, all the while appreciating the initiations and dedications of some of the district officers in implementation of NFSA/13 despite the impediments.

Also in the meeting, Director of Food & Civil Supplies Liyon Borang, Director of Woman and Child Development Tokmem Pertin Loyi, and Director of Elementary Education Tapi Gao presented reports on the implementation of NFSA/13 of their respective departments.

Member Secretary of State Food Commission Mitali Namchoom, along with members Abraham Techi and Matem Linggi were also present in the meeting.
