TEZU, Aug 11: An emergency meeting with District Administration and HoDs was called by  Minister Animal Husbandry Art & Culture, Dr Mohesh Chai here today. 
 
The meeting was called to chalk out contingency and flood preparedness measures in the district in the wake of flash flood in the district due to heavy rainfall for the past few days. 
 
Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf, HoDs and administrative officers were present in the meeting.
 
Analyzing the flood situation in the district the Minister stressed on being prepared for any kind of contingency and also asked the government officials to remain in station.
 
He has requested all the departments including the BRTF to be alert and vigil and be prepared and oversee immediate restoration works in all the grim areas in the district as an emergency measure.
 
The Minister along with Superintendent of Police Isaac Pertin, DSP James Kabang Lego, DDMO Damchen Norbu with NDRF Team, other government officials are closely monitoring the flood situation in the district.
 
Flood situation is grim in the district with all the rivers flowing above danger level. Miju village in Tafragam, Changliang, Danglat, 27 Mile etc. have been affected.
 
As per telephonic report received from DDMO Damchen Norbu 11 persons were evacuated from Lohit River near Danglat. Rescue operation to evacuate stranded persons is still in process, informed DDMO Norbu.
Relief Camp has been earmarked and kept ready in Amik Ringya Hall, Tezu, informed Norbu. There has been no report of casualty or loss of life so far.
 
Link road to Changliang village has been washed away by flash flood. Water supply and power supply have also been disrupted due to incessant rain. Department of Hydro Power Development has reported shutdown of Tafragam MHS and Doorah Nallah MHS due to damages by silt and heavy landslide.
 
District Administration has also appointed Sector Magistrate to oversee and monitor flood situation in the district. DIPRO
