Several organizations here in the East Siang headquarters took out a candlelight march demanding justice for late Ojing Taying who died at Guwahati while undergoing treatment after being brutally attacked on June 10 last in the state capital Itanagar.
Led by East Siang District Students’ Union (ESDSU) the Friday peace march saw huge participation from community based organizations and student groups marching in solidarity with the deceased.
Resenting the delay in nabbing the culprits, ESDSU President, Tabit Gao and Vice President Kaling Tayeng (also President TWS Youth) also demanded for granting of adequate compensation to the parents of late Taying. Setting up of SIT to investigate the case while letting CCTV footages to be tested in forensic lab, has also been sought by the organizations.
Representatives also urged the police to question the mother of a female companion who was present during the incident while citing that ‘the culprits have reportedly threatened the mother if she reveals the names.’
Asserting that criminals do not belong to any caste, community, tribe or religion, ABKYW President Aling Pinggam alleged “There is something fishy going on within the police department, though the girl has been arrested, police are delaying arrest of the culprits.”
ABKWW President Yalem Taga Burang while seeking early arrest of the culprits advised the youths to shun alcohol and late night partying which often results in such situation.
Meanwhile, parents of late Ojing Taying who came to Pasighat from Ngorlung including his grandmother, 80 years have also demanded for early arrest of the murderers.
The mother broke down before the media while narrating the loss of her son. She told this scribe that, they are deeply shocked and saddened over the death and appealed the law enforcing authorities to punish the killers.
Father of the deceased, Jiten Taying has expressed thankfulness to all the organizations for standing with them during this hour of grief.
Among others, Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering, former MLA 37th Pasighat West Omak Apang and retired Director School Education Tapang Taloh also joined the march.
