PASIGHAT, Feb 16: A three-day Cancer Screening Camp being organised by Indian Medical Association, Arunachal Pradesh (IMA - AP) in collaboration with State Cancer Society, and Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati (Assam) began today at the Bakin Pertin General Hospital (BPGH), Pasighat. The camp was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu.
Awareness cum educative program about cancer was also organised simultaneously wherein Cancer experts from Tertiary care Centre TRIHMS & BBCI Guwahati imparted knowledge about the preventive and therapeutic aspects of cancer.
Specialists from various hospitals of the state including TRIHMS, Heema Hospital, RK Mission Hospital, BPGH Pasighat and DH Roing are participating in the said camp.
The first day of the camp saw a huge rush of patients from all over East Siang and neighbouring districts. The camp is being organised basically to screen five common cancers namely Oral, Breast, Stomach, Liver and Cervical cancers wherein advanced and invasive procedures like Upper GI Endoscopy, Ultra-sonography and Pap smear are being carried out.
