ITANAGAR, May 7: The Arunachal Pradesh Schedule Tribe Welfare Society (APSTW) has taken up the offspring issue of APST mothers and non-APST fathers availing benefits of the state government.
APSTW spokesperson Pedam Dukam during a press conference held at the press club on Monday said, there are hundreds of Non-APST candidates availing the ST status in the state.
Stating that the issues about offspring of APST mothers and Non-APST fathers having ST, PRC, and other certificates are a serious matter, Dukam said, that rights granted to non-APST would have a negative impact on the future generation of the state.
Be it in terms of job opportunities or contract works, our tribal people can’t compete with the non-APST, said Dukam, asserting the society would initiate the first phase of operation clean drive against such offsprings enjoying benefits as an APST.
Appealing, other community based organisations, Students’ Union and NGOs to refrain from providing shelter to the non-APST availing the ST status during their clean drive, APSTW said, shortly a meeting to discuss the modus operandi of the drive will be convened.
The society would also pursue the said matter with the state government for the greater interest of the indigenous populace of the state, said APSTW general secretary Tai Taka.
There are many instances wherein, non-APST have already erected immovable structures/properties while making the APST wife as a shield, claimed Taka.
Further the society clarified that their sole objective is to provide benefits and rights to the APST population which is being provided by the state government.
