PASIGHAT, Aug 2: The bodies of two students of JNV, Geku in Upper Siang District who had drowned in the confluence of Sikor and Siang river on the afternoon of July 26 last, remains untraceable even after a week and in spite of intensive search operation launched from all communities including a team of NDRF. The body of the third student however has been recovered.

Speaking about the intensive search operation, Kepang Erang Kebang (KEK) led by President, Todol Pertin and General Secretary, Anying Borang including KEK member Advocate Toning Pertin said that, despite several efforts to search for the two bodies have yielded no result.

‘One body was recovered recently from Jopong side of D. Ering Wildlife Sanctuary near Borguli village, but the two are still untraceable,’ informed advocate Toning Pertin who further added that the search operation will be called off soon.

However, parents of the students and the KEK were highly thankful to all those who wholehearted cooperated and supported in the search operation. “We are deeply thankful to Chief Minister Pema Khandu for having provided a Helicopter for the search operation which couldn’t however fly due to bad weather. Member of Parliament, Ninong Ering who personally helped us on the ground by his presence and while engaging one of his speed boat is praiseworthy. MLA Geku Mariyang, Olom Panyang and MLA Pasighat, Kaling Moyong besides State BJP President, Tapir Gao, ASM Chairperson Bogong-II Oni Tamuk, Anbo Moyong Society, Jaring Matkir Society and all the people of Mebo Sub-Division area helped us in the search operation for which we are indebted,” added Advocate Toning Pertin.

Meanwhile, deeply shocked over the loss of their children while under the care of the school and alleging negligence of authority concern, one of the parent, one Amak Pertin, father of late Biky Pertin has lodged an FIR against JNV Principal at Geku PS recently.  In the FIR, the father of deceased has alleged complete negligence of school authority and has urged the police to take appropriate action against the school management. He also said that, the JNV Geku which was established during 2005 is still without any proper boundary wall and functioning from a temporary camp which is very pitiable.
