TAWANG, Oct 24:In a bid to create awareness about the various loan facilities being extended by banks and under government sponsored schemes, a Loan Mela cum Financial Literacy Campaign was organised today  at Zomkhang Hall jointly by the District Administration and Banks of Tawang District.

Further, the participants were also briefed on the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swalamban Yojana, Chief Minister's Krishi Rinn Yojana,  Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Bunkar Yojana and Prime Ministers Employment Generation programme by officers of respective departments.

Calling for greater focus at grassroots level for achieving the goal, local MLA Tsering Tashi exhorted the unemployed youths, farmers and weavers to avail the opportunity being extended by the government. Further, he also asked the bankers to explore possibility of setting up of ATMs at far flung areas with high density of population.

Terming lack of awareness and hesitation on part of public towards availing loan as major factor for low turnout of applicants in respect of various government sponsored schemes, DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok directed the government officers and bankers to work in tandem for effective implementation of schemes and requested everyone to cooperate in dissemination of information. Further taking into account the low CD ratio, he said that customer service is of prime importance and banks should work towards achieving that.

The campaign would continue for another four days coinciding with the Tawang Festival.  DIPRO
