ITANAGAR, Aug 22: Banking services in Arunachal Pradesh remained disrupted today as public sector bank employees joined the one-day nationwide strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions to protest governments proposed consolidation move, besides others demands.

Services like deposits and withdrawal at bank branches, cheque clearance, NEFT and RTGS transactions were affected.

Secretary of All India Bank Officers’ Confederation, Bengia Tabb informed that the operations at private banks were also affected, as the lead banks remained closed.

Banking operation at around 80 public sector bank branches throughout the state was disrupted as employees participated in the strike, he claimed.

Besides, protest against consolidation move of the government, other demands include no write-off policy for non-performing assets (NPAs) of corporate loans, declaring willful default of loans as criminal offence and implementation of recommendations of Parliamentary Committee on recovery of NPAs, Tabb said.
