ITANAGAR, Aug 29: Arunachal Vikas Parishad organized a felicitation programme of 74 Priests of Sartang community of West Kameng district at Jerigaon on Monday. 

Terming priests as backbone of society, Sandeep Kavishwar, Joint Organizing Secretary, Kalyan Ashram North East Zone said that it is the duty of society to look after them. 

Kavishwar also explained in detail about the aim and objectives of AVP, saying that AVP or Kalyan Ashram is working with the motto of bringing feeling of oneness, all-round development of tribal communities and patriotism among the countrymen. 

AVP is serving society through 44 Balwadis, 3 Schools, 130 Village Health Workers, 25 Village libraries, 66 Sports centers, 4 Computer centers and 4 tailoring centers in the state. It is also emphasizing on the protection and promotion of age-old traditions of various tribal communities of Arunachal Pradesh. 

While addressing the function as chief guest, Sang Khandu EAC Bomdila said that the initiative taken by AVP is appreciable and there is a need for a permanent solution for the welfare of the priests as they are taking much pain and working hard for the wellbeing of society. 

The program was attended by the priest community of Salari, Jerigaon, Khoina, Rahung, Darbu, Warjong, Khoitam, Dungchang and nearby villages and GBs, ASMs, GPMs of the area. Earlier Dr. Rinchin Mega General Secretary of AVP West Kameng gave the welcome address.
