In a bid to find the best athletes in the state, the National Yuva Cooperative Society (NYCS) will be launching its 3rd under-17 athletic talent hunt -2017 GAIL: The Fastest Indian, for both boys & girls in the age group of 11 to 17 years that will kick start from December 10 next here at the state capital.
Embodying a theme, “Preach, Pursue, Promote sports”, the event aims to identify promising hidden young talents in the state and provide them a platform to unlock their true potential. The event is spread into finding best talents in 100 metre, 200 metre and 400 metre race for both, boys and girls.
Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, State representative cum program coordinator, NYCS, Gyamar Kassung said that the event was especially meant for those athletes having potential to become great in athletics, but could not pursue their dream due to lack of monetary support and platform.
He disclosed that the selection for previous two seasons was held in ten states covering 53 districts, in which at least a total of 26000 athletes participated in the event and received huge applause.
All the expenses of the players, for coaches and others expenses will be borne by the organizers. Besides the winners will be nurtured under experienced national & international coaches, where they will be given specialized training required to compete at the international events, he said.
