ITANAGAR, Dec 13:  Taking strong exception towards the lackadaisical attitude of the state government towards the demand for a separate Department for Abo Tani Clans, the Abo Tani Clan Organization today sought the Chief Minister’s intervention within seven days, failing which it cautioned to launch democratic movement.

Speaking to the media at a press conference, President ATCO Yamra Tara said that they have been letdown by the government.

‘We have been betrayed by the state government as we demanded for separate department for Abo Tani Tradition & Culture Affairs and for which cabinet notes were also prepared and former Chief Secretary SD Gamlin had also forwarded the same to the Governor for approval. But to out utter surprise it has been changed to Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA).

‘We are not against creation of DIA or DoKA but the government has hijacked our proposal,’ claimed President ACTO while appealing the government to immediately look into the matter for the preservation of culture and tradition of Abo Tani clans.

Refuting allegation that its signature campaign was initiated to topple the Pema Khandu government, the ATCO while terming it baseless cited that the campaign was only for the creation of Abo Tani Clan Department and their endorsement for the same.

While questioning the state government for encouraging particular community and religion, President ATCO Women Wing, Dipu Nabam said ‘The government is ready to recruit hundreds of Bhoti language teachers whereas there are still thousands of SSA teachers without regular salary and secure job. However, if the government is all set to create job for Bhoti language then they also create job for each Abo Tani Clan,’ demanded ATCO women wing President.

Meanwhile, the organization also expressed resentment for the derogatory remark by the Chief Minister inside the state Assembly.
