AALO, Dec 28: The executive members of West Siang Unit of Arunachal Teachers’ Association has vehemently condemned the series of mob attacks on Presiding officer Karik Lollen, and his polling team while returning from Sibe rite to Gensi during the 28th Likabali bye-election. In a representation submitted to the West Siang District Election Officer urging strong action to book the culprits under appropriate section of law, the Association stated that a mob of 50-60 people damaged the Polling Materials, EVMs and physically assaulted the team. The security personnel on duty from ITBP had to fire five rounds in the air to disperse the mob. The Polling Team could manage to escape with help of Sector Magistrate.
Such act towards officials on national duty like election is uncalled and all culprits involved in the ugly incident be given exemplary punishment under election laws, the association has demanded.
