ITANAGAR, Sep 18: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) bandh call on Tuesday is receiving support from various organizations. The Arunachal Students Union Delhi (ASUD) is also staging a peaceful protest in support of the 12 hour state wide bandh at Arunachal Bhawan New Delhi on Tuesday.
“We are trying to pass the message to the Centre that indigenous people’s rights are going to be trampled, the moment Chakma-Hajongs are given citizenship,” said AUSD GS Dewan Natung.
“There is misconception among that people of Delhi and the rest of India that Arunachal is curtailing refugees’ rights, but the fact is our own indigenous people are going to be outnumbered by the refugees, this message we want to pass on, in solidarity with AAPSU,” ASUD GS added. The ASUD has demanded complete rollback of implementation of Tibetan Refugees Policy (2014) in Arunachal Pradesh and demanded the government of India to ensure demographic safety of Indigenous people.
