CHANGLANG, Jun 28: Changlang battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) conducted security meet with representatives of TCLPF, TCLSF and SP, Changlang along with representatives of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF),Intelligence Bureau (IB) and other agencies at Battalion Headquarters, Changlang on Tuesday.
The meeting was organised to strengthen the camaraderie and cohesion between Changlang battalion and local civil bodies for ensuring peace, tranquility & harmony in Changlang district. This meeting offered a free & willing interaction between representatives of Changlang battalion & respective civil bodies members, allowing discussion & brain-storming regarding the atrocities being faced by local inhabitants by various anti-national& anti-social elements operating in the Changlang district and further ways & means to eradicate the same.
In addition, discussion on various issues ranging from presence of insurgents & their extortion activities in remote areas, menace of drug abuse, education avenues, and health requirement were also discussed in detail.
Addressing the meeting, the Commandant,Changlang battalion apprised the members about various tasks undertaken by the battalion for the upliftment of the locals, comprising of constructions works undertaken, organization of medical camps and facilities of education & employment opportunities. The Commandant also ensured that his battalion would make an all-out effort to deny space to insurgent groups in Changlang district. 
Appreciating the local citizens for publicly voicing their resentment against the insurgents, Changlang battalion also called for the proactive involvement and cooperation of the village authorities and urged all to take a united stand against insurgency in the region.
The members on their part, pledged that they would no longer concede to the illegal demands of ransom by insurgents in future and extend their unanimous support to the Changlang battalion and Security Forces to tackle and end the menace of insurgents. The members also shared their view on overall security of far-flung villages like Khuchep&Saching, multi skill programs for the youth and development of roads towards Ranglum and other inaccessible villages.
