  ITANAGAR, Sep 20:In a historic development, a Tripartite Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) MoU has been signed between the Arunachal Pradesh, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and Airports Authority of India (AAI).

With the signing, Arunachal has now been included under UDAN, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India which would not only pave the way for providing affordable air connectivity from the ALG’s /Airport within the state to the rest of the country but also boost tourism and facilitate import and export of goods including agriculture and horticulture produce of the state.

The Secretary Civil Aviation, Vinod P. Kavle signed the RCS MoU in New Delhi on Wednesday. The initiative was the result of continuous and dedicated efforts of the Chief Minister, Pema Khandu, Parliamentary Secretary, Civil Aviation PD Sona and Chief Secretary, Shakuntala Gamlin.

In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of  Rajiv Nayan Choubey, Secretary Civil Aviation, Government  of India with the Chief Secretary and Secretary Civil Aviation at New Delhi on Tuesday last.

During the meeting, other issues related to Civil Aviation in the State including  commencement of commercial fixed wing aircraft services from Pasighat to rest of country were also discussed wherein the Union Secretary Civil Aviation has assured that air services from Pasighat would commence by November 2017 positively.
