NAHARLAGUN, Oct 31: Commemorating the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” was observed in a befitting manner here in the state capital with various departments carrying out  programmes, rallies and marathon race ‘run for unity’ to spread the message of unity and integrity.

Marking the day, a mass rally was organized here at State capital by Capital police force, which was led by Superintendent of police, Papum Pare cum in-charge Capital Complex, Tumme Amo, which started from the main police station Itanagar and culminated at IG Park. 

Hundreds of police personnel in uniform holding banners and placards along with local citizens chanted  slogans like “ hum sab ek hai”, “Vallabhai patel amar rahe”, “Bharat mata ki jai” during the march.

Similar kind of rally was also organized by Naharlagun Police station in collaboration with Bazar welfare committee. The rally which was led by SDPO Naharlagun Make Bui covered a distance of 5km, which commenced from the Police Station to D Sector and back.

At the culmination point both SP Amo and SDPO Bui elaborated on the importance of the day and called upon the gathering to work unitedly for social security and integrity of the state and nation as a whole.

The day was also observed at respective police stations at Sagalee, Balijan, Doimukh and Kimin. Later the participants took the pledge to maintain unity and integrity.

At ITANAGAR,

Hundreds participated in the “run for unity” in state capital for maintaining the national unity and integration among the citizens and youths of state and country.

The run which started from Chimpu and culminated at IG Park which comprised of security personnel from CRPF, ITBP, IRBN, civil police, BJP party leaders of the state and capital district unit, students of Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy, students and local residents.

The run was flagged off by the Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs, Dani Salu at Chimpu.

Addressing a mammoth gathering, BJP State President, Tapir Gao at IG Park exhorted the gathering to preserve the national unity and integrity among citizens with communal harmony. He urged the youths to work hard for the future development of the state and country.

Paying tribute to Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary and late Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary on the occasion, Gao also deeply elaborated the role of the two national leaders and their contribution in nation building.

In girls category, Anung Wangsu, Abur Siboh, Yabang Tali received 1st , 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively with a prize money of 10,000, 7,000 and 5,000 respectively.

 While in the men’s category, Bamo Tanang, Karbu Kena and Nganpho Ngandam received the prizes from the dignitaries. Consolation prizes were also given away to participants.

ITANAGAR, Oct 31:Arunachal today observed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas along with the nation to observe the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India, popularly referred to as the Iron man of freedom struggle, was known for protecting the unity of the country post-independence.

At the state capital, officers and staffers of the Deputy Commissioner’s office took the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge administered by ADC Capital Complex Talom Dupak. The members of DC Office Yupia also took the pledge.

At BOMDILA,

Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop unfurled the national tricolor and offered floral tributes to the portrait of Sardar Patel along with officers and students.

The celebration in the morning began with Run for Unity from Pedung helipad to Buddha Peace Park covering a distance of five kilometers by 189 runners flagged –off by DIG SSB.

Trophies, certificates and cash award were given to the three winners from both male and female category.

At ZIRO,

Deputy Commissioner Kemo Lollen flagged-off the Run for Unity from Abotani Hall, Hapoli which was participated by  officers, students and public.

Later in a commemorative program, Lollen called for unity amongst all the indigenous people of the state, irrespective of tribe and religion to achieve the essence of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations. Later pledge was administered to all the participants.

At TAWANG,

The celebration saw huge participation from all sections of society. Highlighting on the contribution of the ‘Iron Man of India’, DC Sang Phuntsok asked everyone to work towards preserving and strengthening the unity , integrity and security of the nation. March Past was also carried out by state police and students of various schools followed by demonstration of band display from students of VKV Kitpi. Further, the event also saw pledge administration resolving to foster the spirit of unification.

At ROING,

 To mark the occasion, Deputy Commissioner In-Charge, Lower Dibang Valley, Chestha Yadav flagged off the “Run for unity” in which students and teachers from various schools participated.

At YINGKIONG,

The Rasthriya Ekta Diwas was celebrated with the rest of the country in befitting manner at General Ground, Yingkiong today. DC Duly Kamduk while addressing the gathering paid  homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The other highlights of the day were Run for Unity, March Past by APP, NCC & Guides. The programme was followed by a pledge taking ceremony.

At NAMSAI,

Namsai observed the day with much enthusiasm and  “Run for Unity”was also organized from Arunachal University of Studies campus to Namsai town club.

Flagging off the marathon race, Deputy Commissioner Namsai, RK Sharma along with ADC Namsai B. Talukdar offered floral tribute to the portrait of Sardar Patel and spoke on the his life and contributions.

 At KHONSA, 

Zilla Parishad Chairperson, C Sontung Bangsia flagged off the mini marathon event at Khonsa in presence of Tirap SP Jitendra Kumar Meena among others. Participants also took the pledge.

At PASIGHAT, 

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Tamiyo Tatak threw light on contributions of Sardar Patel and recalled his immense role towards nation building.

From boys group, Maglek Mekir, Sunday Rio and Arun Taggu secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in the marathon while Menuka D. Karki was adjudged as first, Asha Tamang second and Gitani Tamut third in the girls group. Volunteers from student union assisted in traffic control during the celebration.

Tatak later administered the ‘Ekta Pledge’ to the gathering, which was followed by floral tribute to the portrait of Sardar Patel.
