ITANAGAR, Jan 27: Arunachal Pradesh on Friday celebrated the 75th Republic Day with patriotic fervour even as temperatures plummeted across the state.
The main function was held at Indira Gandhi Park in the state capital Itanagar where Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) graced the celebration as chief guest and took the salute of the Guard of Honour commanded by Deputy Superintendent of Police Pujom Duchi and reviewed the parade.
The First Lady Anagha Parnaik, Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his cabinet colleagues, Speaker of State Legislative Assembly PD Sona, distinguished guests, invitees and special guests attended the celebration.
In his address, the Governor highlighted the various achievements made by the State and said that Arunachal Pradesh has made substantial investments in enhancing air connectivity, fostering cultural exchange, boosting tourism and facilitating trade.
Parnaik, said that over the last seven years, Arunachal witnessed a substantial surge in road infrastructure with 65 per cent increase in road density, 64 per cent expansion in road length and the construction of 19,863 km of roads. There has been a remarkable 138 per cent rise in the length of national highways in the last seven years, with the development of 2,482 km of national highways, he said.
The Governor said that the Border Roads Organization (BRO) is set to complete the Sela tunnel, the world's longest twin-lane tunnel above 13,000 feet in the state which will allow faster deployment of weapons and soldiers to forward areas in Tawang. Another key project for improved connectivity in forward areas, the Nechiphu tunnel in West Kameng district of the state, was inaugurated by the Defence Minister last year, he said.
Parnaik, said that under the vibrant village programme, 1,452 villages have been systematically mapped, and 455 villages have been identified for development. The state has connected 252 border habitations through the construction of 2,506 km of roads, he said.
The Governor said that as governance reforms and prudent financial management, the State has shown a significant increase of 136% in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) - from Rs. 20,373 Crores in 2015-16 to Rs. 48,028 Crores in 2023-24, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Governor said that with an objective of Atma Nirbhar Arunachal Pradesh through agriculture and allied sectors, hydropower, food and civil supplies, the unique initiatives, the ‘Aatma Nirbhar Yojanas’ have proved to be effective and popular among the beneficiaries.
The Governor said that to safeguard and celebrate Arunachal Pradesh's cultural diversity, Tribal Culture Centres (TCC) have been established in all district headquarters with funding of Rs. one Crore each. These centres play a pivotal role in preserving and promoting indigenous faith systems. He said that in addition to it the State Government has decided to host an annual competitive folk songs and music festival with participation of all States and UTs in a bid to boost tourism and branding of the State as a promoter and supporter of folk songs and music. The broader vision of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' will take our indigenous folk songs and music to a larger audience outside the State. At the same time, our artistes and people will be able to interact with the traditional culture, language, folk songs, and music of the other States and UTs of India.
The Governor said that Arunachal Pradesh has made significant strides in sports infrastructure, boasting 20 multipurpose indoor sports halls, a 15,000-capacity Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium, seven new national-level stadiums, a 20,700 square meter DK Badminton Academy with 14 two-hall badminton courts, and a National Centre for Sports Science Research – one of only six in India. He said that in the last seven years, we have won a staggering collection of 375 gold, 259 silver, and 266 bronze medals in esteemed national and international competitions, which stands as a testament to our prowess in the field of games and sports.
PASIGHAT: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu unfurled the national tri-colour, took Rastriya Salute and inspected the gala march past of fourteen contingents, led by parade commander Inspector Samuel Pertin at the Pasighat Outdoor Stadium ground in presence of Loksabha MP Tapir Gao, MLA Kaling Moyong, SP Sumit Kumar Jha, prominent officers, leaders, retired bureaucrats and general public.
In his address to the people, the DC outlined the priorities of the East Siang District Administration for providing responsive and time bound, and commitment towards service delivery to the people of the district.
Amongst major achievements of the district, the DC informed that the long pending border issue between East Siang and the neighboring Dhemaji district of Assam has been resolved amicably, land acquisition and settlement for upcoming railway project was successfully completed and all construction worksrelated to Smart City Mission are in progress. He also highlighted the achievements and milestones made by the various government departments of the district in various sectors.
Doimukh: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) joined the rest of the nation in commemorating the 75th Republic Day with a spirit of patriotism and progress. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Saket Kushwaha, led the flag-hosting ceremony, joined by the Registrar, Finance Officer, Deans, Department Heads, faculty members, students, administrative officers and staff. The day was marked by patriotic songs performed by the students of the Department of Fine Arts & Music and March past by the troupes of NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and security personnel of the university. Earlier, the Republic Day observance commenced with a solemn floral tribute to the Wall of Heroes, paying homage to the nation's brave souls.
In his address to the gathering, Prof. Saket Kushwaha emphasized the significance of propelling the nation towards new heights. He highlighted the recent implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 within the university, underscoring RGU's commitment to academic excellence and innovation.Reflecting on the achievements of 2023, Prof. Kushwaha expressed satisfaction with the university's progress, citing numerous milestones reached. He urged the university fraternity to work harder to improve the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and further anticipates the visit from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team sometime in the month of February or March 2024. Prof. Kushwaha urged students, faculty, and administrators to prepare diligently for the accreditation process, affirming RGU's dedication to maintaining high standards of education and research.
Yupia: Addressing the gathering DC Papum Pare Jiken Bomjen said “The Republic Day celebration holds significant importance as it commemorates the adoption of the Indian Constitution and serves as a reminder of the responsibilities and rights enshrined in the Constitution, promoting a spirit of democracy and civic engagement.”
Referring to the ensuing elections this year, he called upon all the officers and officials of Papum Pare to be duty bound to ensure a free and fair election.
The DC highlighted few major developmental activities in the District, which includes a 500MT freezer warehouse at Emchi catering to farmers of Pakke Kessang, Lower Subansiri,Kamle, Kra Dadi and Kurung Kurmey; augmentation of water supply to RGU at a cost of Rs.20Cr, augmentation of water supply to Doimukh and Kimin townships; RCC bridge over river Papum at Ramghat connecting Taraso to Balijan ; 40 bedded District hospital at Doimukh etc.
He further highlighted the achievements of Agriculture, Horticulture and textile and handicraft department in implementing important schemes like ANKY,ANBY and Silk Samagra.
The highlights of the day long celebrations included colourful cultural presentation by the school children, weapon display by the ITBP, disaster preparedness display by the NDRF team, karate show and skit on bonded labour.
Various departments and SHGs also set up their stalls displaying their products. Agriculture department was adjudged as the best stall.
Govt.officials , Police personnel and DMK news,Doimukh were awarded with commendation certificates by the District Administration.
Prizes for the sports activities organised on 23rd January as a part of the Republic Day celebrations were also distributed to the school children.
Among others SP Taru Gusar, Heads of Offices, admin officers,GBs,school children and public attended the programme.
Roing: DC Lower Dibang Valley Soumya Saurabh informed about the infrastructure project underway and completed in the district like the new District Hospital building, the 132 KV Chapkhowa- Roing Transmission line and the ongoing 132 KV Anini and Dambuk Transmission lines, the upgradation of the Roing township roads, the completed Jal Jeevan Mission, the ongoing GHSS academic and hostel buildings, the recently inaugurating Eklavya Model Residential School, the Green Roing initiative etc.
The DC also highlighted the initiatives undertaken to provide government benefits to the masses like the 8 Seva Aapke Dwar 2.0 camps organised in all the circles, the provision of mid day meals to students of class IX to XII to encourage them to attend school regularly in order to improve the exam results, the filling of infrastructure gaps to create conducive learning environments in educational institutions, provision of sample papers and conduct of remedial classes for Class X students etc. She also enjoined the parents to encourage their children to work hard and concentrate on their studies.
DC Soumya Saurabh also expressed happiness over the district being awarded the Chief Ministers Award for Excellence in Public Administration for ‘Bringing perceptible improvement in processes/systems and in building institutions’ and the 7th JRD Tata Memorial Awards for the best-performing district under the 'High focus North East States-High Wealth Level' category and appreciated the cooperation of one and all in working for the development of the district.
The celebrations also witnessed a colourful cultural display, band display and pyramid display by the school students. Stalls were put up by government departments, NGOs and SHGs.
