ITANAGAR, Jan 18:To mark 50 years of success, growth and transformation, the Guwahati Arunachal Students Union (GASU) will be organizing the 2nd edition of “Arunachal Carnival”, a first of its kind festival to promote cultural diversity of the state to the world outside from February 16 -19 next at AEI field Guwahati.

Aimed to foster unity and integrity among students pursuing their academic career outside the state, this year’s organizers are bringing a series of events which include fashion shows, symposium, road shows, film screening, trade fair etc to commemorate the milestone.

In a press conference, President GASU cum Organizing Secretary, Toofan Lida while briefing reporters about the objective said “We believe that conducting such festival would provide a useful platform to showcase and to make our rich culture visible to outsiders.”

Asserting that festivals are the only platform which opens the door to recollect the past existence of a community, and allows one to revive the lost cultural heritage, Lida also batted for similar events by students studying across the country.

Recalling contribution of former president and secretary like Joram Begi, M. Kamki etc in safeguarding interest of Arunachal students during their tenure in GASU, he requested all former students, former members, like- minded citizens to attend the program to make it a grand success.

Organizing chairman, Deo Lorrah Sangno also stressed on preserving and promoting the rich culture heritage and said that the three day carnival is open to everybody and all forms of cultural expression.
