ITANAGAR, Aug 1: The Arunachal Against Corruption which has been on a weeklong sit-in protest against incumbent chief minister Pema Khandu over graft allegations, today said that it is ready to face legal consequences, if any.
Denying any political agenda behind the agitation, President Arunachal Against Corruption (AAC) Tarh Tahar said that they are ready to face legal consequences if CM Khandu files any case against them in connection to the ongoing agitation against a series of corruption charges.
In response to the statement made by CM Khandu on alleged Rs 142 crore mismanagement under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) which he said as a "mere attempt to defame his government and will soon file a case against organizations for leveling allegations",  President AAC said " If the Chief Minister is clean, he should morally resign from his chair and let the investigation agency conduct a free & fair investigation. If there is nothing wrong, then he can avail his chair again."
He further claimed that AAC is ready to face any legal battle. "We have all the documents against the demands and corruption charges being levelled against the incumbent CM.  Chief Minister should publicly declare that all the corruption charges are false and be ready to be investigated by any agency," Tahar added.
CBI, ED and other investigating agencies have questioned political leaders on various cases; a similar investigation should be initiated here too to unearth the truth, he added.
Earlier, All Arunachal Pradesh Abotani Students' Union (AAPATSU) led by its President Langpu Apon also visited the AAC members and assured to extend all possible support during the agitation.
Apon further urged the members of AAC not to recoil from their movement and fight till the end against corruption. He also alleged that, the present state government is adamant not to hear the voice of the common public. For the last many months, AAPATSU is also demanding the cancellation of Non-APST from Panchayati Raj but the government is not in the mood to do anything for the welfare of the state, asserted Apon.
On Sunday last as a part of their protest, members of Arunachal Against Corruption (AAC) shaved off their heads and said that if the government won’t respond to their demands, the team will move to Delhi.
