ITANAGAR, Aug 9:In what might come as a setback to the state Congress party, former Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress, President, Jikke Tako has disassociated himself from the Congress party’s membership and formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday.

Toko was welcomed into the party fold in a small reception hosted at the BJP state headquarters in presence of state BJP President, Tapir Gao, General Secretary, Jarpum Gamlin, Vice President, Dominic Tadar and other senior party members.

Introducing the new face to the party workers, VP Tadar in his welcome speech, stated that Toko’s joining, who has vast experience in political field would strengthen the roots of the Saffron party in the state and especially boost the morale of the youths.

Welcoming the newcomer into the party fold, President, Tapir Gao exhorted him to work with interest for the development of the state while taking along the party ideology and discipline.

Asserting that joining the party does not assure special status as it is against the party ideology, Gao urged all to work with dedication for development of society and to earn an “identity”.

Further, highlighting the significance of party ideology, which makes BJP a vibrant political party with a difference, Gao said good governance can be delivered only by ideology-inspired leadership.

‘It is the ideological commitment of PM Modi which makes him an enviable icon of good governance among the masses,’ he said.

Reiterating that there is a need to strengthen the party further to make Arunachal Congress-free, Gao said that as the party is becoming bigger each day, the role and responsibility has also increased and exhorted the party workers to march ahead with renewed energy and zeal.
