Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
ITANAGAR, Mar 24:
The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society on Saturday raised serious concern over appointment of non-APSTs from outside as member in the Arunachal State Commission for Women (APSCW) violating the laid down norms of APSCW act 2002.
It alleged that as per guidelines, the government cannot appoint non-APST as member of the commission and the panel of candidates should be prepared by the preceding commission. However it alleged that the government allegedly hired non-APST member without giving importance to the panel list prepared earlier.
“The APWWS, being the mother NGO of the state that has been tirelessly and voluntarily working for women upliftment is deeply saddened to hear this information,” it said adding that no agency should undermine the very purpose of establishment of APSCW and its motto to achieve the desired goal.
Further clarifying that APWWS is not against any individual and do not question the credibility and capability of appointed members, however stated that they are concerned only regarding the violation of laid down rules for appointment under the APSCW act 2002.
It later asked the government for fair intervention on the matter to resolve the issue.
