ITANAGAR, Mar 14: The Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union Federation (APTUF) decided to postpone its ongoing protest against the state government, as announced by the federation’s Secretary General Kenkar Yomcha here on Wednesday.
Yomcha asserted that many government officials and authorities are currently away due to official duties and upcoming elections. Therefore, the federation has opted to temporarily halt its agitation, while remaining firm on its demands.
He further highlighted progress on certain demands, such as wage increases and the removal of the Labour Board chairman, which are reportedly being addressed by the government. Additionally, efforts are underway to address other demands including the regularization of contingency staff who have served the state for over 15 years.
The federation had initially presented a 6-point charter of demands to the state government, focusing on the welfare of workers. These demands encompassed various aspects such as enhancing the grade pay of certain employees, creating additional posts, and addressing issues related to recruitment processes.
Earlier, APTUF had announced the first phase of the strike will commence on March 11, in the form of a peaceful dharna cum rally throughout the state. The second phase will be of two days from March 14 to 15 in the form of pen and tools down. Simultaneously, there will be mass casual leave on March 18, 19, and 20.
