BOMDILA, Nov 14:

 

An APSTS night super bus bearing number ARX 0469 headed towards Tezpur from Tawang rolled over while negotiating the sharp turn and the steep slope at Rupa mor; 16 kilometers from district headquarters Bomdila this morning at around seven thirty, killing one person on the spot.

Break failure has been cited as the apparent reason for the accident by the police.

A total of 40 passengers including the driver and the handyman were travelling to Tezpur when the incident occurred.

One Madan Thapa, aged 42 years working as Chowkidar in the department of PHE & WS Bomdila died on the spot while two others sustained grievous injuries who were rushed to the nearby Army hospital but were later referred to Civil hospital Tezpur. Eight passengers received minor injuries and were given medical care at Army hospital Rupa.

The Rupa police team led by ASI Tashi Monpa and the Army personnel immediately responded to the crisis and evacuated the passengers to safety.
