ITANAGAR, Jul 6:The head office of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) at C sector, Itanagar is on the verge of collapse due to landslides and sinking of soil triggered by incessant rainfall over the past few days.
Continuous soil erosion due to construction of four laning on the backside of the office is also causing panic among the staffers of possible eventualities.
Speaking to this daily, Vice Chairperson Padmeswari Jamoh and Member Rosy Taba said that the office is currently in a deplorable state and they raised apprehension that the structure might collapse if the situation prevails.
“The present office structure is too old, congested and has developed cracks,” Jamoh says fearing that it will cave-in anytime.
The duo informed that earlier the APSCW had requested the government to arrange for a temporary office elsewhere and then construct a 5-storeyed building at the current location with parking and other facilities.
“We have also apprised the Minister Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, UD etc, Nabam Rebia to look into the matter on urgent basis,” the duo informed.
When contacted, Rebia disclosed that he has already directed the Commission to send proposal for shifting the office and urged the officials and staffers to take extreme precautionary measures while working out of the present office till the matter is solved.
“The matter has been taken up on priority,” Rebia said assuring all possible support in restoration of the building.
