ITANAGAR, Dec 6: One day advocacy cum sensitization meeting with officers and staff of Department of Information Technology on HIV/AIDS and STI/RTI was organized by Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, Directorate of Health Services Naharlagun at Civil Secretariat Building, Itanagar. The meeting was attended by more than 50 officials and staffers of the department.           

In his key note address Project Director, APSACS highlighted about the MoU signed between NACO and Ministry of Information Technology and highlighted the HIV/AIDS scenario of state and the nation. He also informed the house present about the facilities available for people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHAs) in the State such as free treatment, free lab investigation and guest house for their stay in the Capital Complex during their treatment.          

Joint Director, Information Technology, H Taka pledged to offer all possible help to APSACS in the prevention of HIV/AIDS in the state through the services available under the Department of Information Technology.      

Dr. Moli Basar, MO, ARTC Plus, TRIHMS attended as resource person. Deputy Director APSACS, Tashor Pali who attended as resource person requested the IT Department to explore all possibilities for prevention of HIV/AIDS through IT Department like bulk SMS, by developing web portal and involve APSACS in their programmes in the districts. He also stressed on the importance of plugging HIV/AIDS activities with other government departments of the state.
