Itanagar, Mar 10: The Arunachal Pradesh Football Association successfully hosted the Annual General Body Meeting of All India Football Federation (AIFF) for the first time in the state. Multiple meetings of various committees of AIFF also took place on the same day.
AIFF Executive Committee Members led by Kalyan Chaubey, President along with members from its Technical Committee, Finance Committee, Commercial Partners and representatives of all the Member State Football Associations participated in the one day summit.
The delegation also witnessed the final match of the 77th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2023-24 between Services and Goa on March 9.
In his address to the gathering at AGM, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who is also the President of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association said that the State Government is committed to provide every possible assistance or help to football development programs to be initiated in the near future. He further said that the State Government will soon build a proper Football Stadium of highest standard and larger sitting capacity in the Itanagar Capital Region to host more National Football Championships as well as international matches in the state.
"This is the first time that any state from Northeast Region got selected to host the AIFF AGM. We are extremely honoured and happy that Arunachal Pradesh has been chosen to host it. Our sincere thanks goes to AIFF for providing this opportunity to us," said Kipa Ajay, Treasurer, AIFF and Honorary Secretary, APFA.
"To host two mega events—77th Santosh Trophy and AIFF AGM have been a huge boost to our State Football Fraternity and they have certainly helped our state to be recognised across the country and the world,” he added.
Kipa Takum, Senior Vice President, APFA represented the state association in the AGM.
