Recalls contribution of Gandhi family to the state

ITANAGAR, Aug 20:The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) celebrated the 73rd birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi, former prime minister of India as ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’ here at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan on Sunday.

President APCC Takam Sanjoy, MLA and former CM Nabam Tuki, general secretary, All India Mahila Congress Committee, Jarjum Ete, senior party leaders, and all rank and file of the Congress party workers attended the celebration and paid tribute to the late leader.     

 Tuki in his address, shared his close association and memorable experience with Gandhi as a state unit president of NSUI when the latter was the President of AICC. He also spoke about the leadership and contributions of Rajiv Gandhi to the nation and particularly to Arunachal Pradesh. He termed Rajiv Gandhi as a sole responsible leader behind the 'green revolution and IT revolution'.

Reiterating the Gandhi family’s fondness for people of Arunachal, Tuki said the people of the state could never forget the contributions of the Gandhi family.     

Sanjoy, in his address also urged the party workers and the people of Arunachal Pradesh to remember the contributions of Rajiv Gandhi and the Congress party.

‘It was Rajiv Gandhi who gave full-fledged statehood to Arunachal without bloodshed and effort whereas other states had to sacrifice many lives for the granting of a separate state status,’ Sanjoy asserted.

 

While appreciating the state youth congress and associated organiser for blood donation camp, he exhorted youths to emerge as 'social changer' and to contribute towards social oriented services.

The APCC chief also claimed that many were in queue to join the Congress party but difficulty was to identify who would be true Congress worker. He urged the party workers and youths to maintain party loyalty and service to the party adding it  would not go unrewarded.

A blood donation camp was also organised in collaboration with Arunachal voluntary Blood Donors Association (Arunachal unit of Vivekananda Yuva Shakti). On the occasion, Ramesh Jeke, president of Arunachal voluntary blood donors organisation also spoke about the importance of blood donation and saving lives through this generosity.
