ITANAGAR, Jul 21: Welcoming the Gauhati High Court ruling that directed the state government to conduct the Panchayati Raj elections withinNovember 30 next, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) termed the judgment as victory of democracy over dictatorship.

“The Judgment of the High Court is not only victory of ours but is the victory of democracy which was ruined by BJP,” said Vice President, (HQ), APCC Minkir Lollen while addressing newspersons here today.

Stating that the state government under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is promoting dictatorship style of governance while overlooking the interests of common people, Lollen criticized the government for allegedly trying to turn the Panchayat and Municipal poll process into a joke.

“The only option left with people to get justice today is to go to courts as the entire state administration has been turned into a back office of the ruling BJP government,” added Lollen and pointing to Deputy Commissioners of both East Siang and Capital Complex who deferred Municipality elections at the behest of the present government.

Accusing the DCs for “parroting” the current government, Lollen questioned how the DCs can forecast in advance that there will be problems related to monsoon.

Alleging that everything is stage-managed by BJP to buy extra time,  he said they were staring at a complete wipe out in municipal polls which compelled them to resort to such shameful tactics.

We are happy with the verdict, added spokesperson, APYC, (Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress), Kalley Rijuju.  However he raised doubts whether the present government will implement the court order.
