ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today slammed the Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party government for misusing the Central Bureau of investigation , Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate to harass and torture opposition leaders and few business groups in Arunachal Pradesh.
Speaking to reporters at Rajiv Bhawan , President APCC Takam Sanjoy said that since Independence central agencies like CBI, ED or IT never entered Arunachal but under the Pema Khandu led BJP government these agencies are being used to harass and torture opposition leaders as well as few business groups of the state.
‘Interestingly whenever we put forward some matter to be investigated through CBI, the state government has always been reluctant,’ he said referring to the recent corruption case under Composite System during which the APCC had sought CBI probe.
He further added that the Congress party will resist any political move to harass and torture its leaders, workers and denizens of the state on such pretext.
'There is a system for raids and investigation by CBI, ED or IT, but to our utter surprise recently Income Tax department raided a company without proper notice with the intent to harass and torture,’ Sanjoy alleged without disclosing any names.
Meanwhile, he also congratulated Rahul Gandhi on his elevation as the President of All India Congress Committee.
‘Under the young and enthusiastic leadership of Gandhi, the party as well as the county will experience new changes in terms of development,’ he said.
