ITANAGAR, Dec 21:
The 108th Annual General Body Meeting of the Ramakrishna Mission was held at Belur Math on December 17 last.
During the meeting many of institutions under the Mission were awarded for their contribution to various social causes. A number of centres took forward Swachchha Bharat Abhiyan by holding various programmes.
During the year, the Mission undertook welfare work by way of providing scholarships to poor students, pecuniary help to old, sick and destitute people incurring an expenditure of Rupees 19.67 crore.
Medical service was rendered to more than 70.69 lakh people incurring an expenditure of Rupees 209.50 crore. Nearly, 2.31 lakh students studied in its educational institutions and rupees 313.33 crore was spent on the educational work.
Furthermore, a number of rural and tribal development projects were taken up benefitting about 73.04 lakh people.
Under the Ramakrishna Math, few new projects deserve special mention such as the Thiruvanthapuram centre which built an operation theatre block with 5 OTs in its hospital among others.
