ITANAGAR, Oct 14:
To chalk out measures to regulate traffic congestion in the state capital, Deputy Commissioner, Prince Dhawan held a coordination meeting with representatives of Transport Federations today.
During the meeting, the DC stressed that positive and innovative measures should be adopted and regulation of movement of every category of commercial vehicles would be required.
He also asked commercial transport drivers to mandatorily wear uniform as it would bring sense of responsibility and help in their easy identification for the convenience of the public.
He suggested every category of taxi to put yellow plate within 30 days and directed the DTO to get all commercial vehicles registered under RTA/STA within one month.
The DC also said that no long distance buses would be allowed to enter the city and must stop at ISBT only.
Informing that a Pre-paid Counter will be opened in Naharlagun Railway Station which will monitor and operate every commercial vehicle, the DC disclosed that a committee was also constituted to verify the stoppage points of Trekker/ Sumo, etc.
Seeking support of the all stakeholders, the DC directed the SP Capital Complex to conduct regular checking of vehicles during the night to ensure taxis are not plying without proper documents.
Earlier, Remar Gab, DTO, Capital Complex made detailed PowerPoint presentation on various modalities of shifting of local trekkers, city buses as well as regulation of movement route. He also proposed route plan to be adopted by commercial vehicles.
