DOIMUKH/GUMTO, Jan 3: In the wake of the ongoing protest by truck drivers in the country against the recent amendment to the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA) related to hit-and-run cases, that led to a boycott of loading and unloading of petroleum products, raising concerns of a potential fuel crisis in the capital complex, the Circle Officer of Gumto, Mudang Tacho, successfully concluded discussions with key stakeholders to address the ongoing 'Steering Chodo Movement’.
Along with the Circle Officer of Gumto, the meeting was attended by officials from the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Gumto, the President of the North East Petroleum Motor Union State Unit Arunachal Pradesh (NEPMU SU AP), Officer-in-Charge of Doimukh Police Station Inspector Phassang Simi, local transporters, and representatives of the agitating drivers.
After thorough deliberation and intervention by all parties involved, an agreement was reached, leading to the prompt loading of petroleum products from the depot. The agitating drivers, satisfied with the outcome of the discussions, have already commenced the transportation of loaded goods to their respective destinations.
Circle Officer Mudang Tacho expressed his appreciation for the collaborative spirit displayed by all parties involved in reaching a consensus. He highlighted the significance of open communication and cooperation in resolving issues that impact the community particularly those related to essential services like fuel supply.
With the successful resolution of the 'Steering Chodo Movement', there is assurance that fuel supply in the region will remain uninterrupted from this evening onwards. The proactive efforts and effective communication between authorities, transporters, and drivers have averted the looming fuel crisis, bringing relief to the residents and businesses, stated a release.
