ITANAGAR, Aug 6:In the backdrop of its earlier decision to carry out “Education and Health Survey -2017”, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) today organised a day long orientation

programme at its office here attendedby President and General Secretaries of its federal units fromtwenty District Students’ Unions.
The day long programme had a threadbare discussion on the issues afflicting the education and health sector within the state under

chairmanship of General Secretary Tobom Dai which wascoordinated by Dy. Spokesperson Nepha Wangsa as resource person.

The house present unanimously decided to go for field survey of all the educational institutes and health centres in the entire state. Thehouse present entrusted the concern District Students Union to lead the survey in their respective districts and has directed them tosubmit the final survey reports latest by October 5 next.

The survey would also include awareness on Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, sanitation and
hygiene in villages. The union appealed the concern legislators and senior citizens to cooperate and aid the survey team.

The participating federal units opined that the causes of poorperformance in education sector have multiple underlying problems andone of the main reasons is lack of textbooks. The house also dwelled on the discipline and the moral responsibility of students and therole of District Students’ Union for creating awareness on education.
The house present also demanded the state government to immediately release textbook for the current academic session without any furtherdelay.

The meeting was also attended by AAPSU President Hawa Bagang, Spokesperson
Tadar Takiang Danghi Mangam among others.
