ITANAGAR, May 4:The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) today expressed shock and concern over the resignation of Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Yupia who was only recently posted to the campus.
A delegation led by President Hawa Bagang and General Secretary Tobom Dai who called upon the office of Director, NIT expressed shock at the news of the Director’s resignation citing personal reasons. The union further expressed suspicion in the internal affairs of the institution which has led to frequent interruption in the administration. The AAPSU opined that when there is no pressure or other outside interventions, the resignation of the Director is a matter of introspection and facts have to be unearthed.
‘The news of the resignation of the newly posted Director is disturbing. This state of affairs which has been witnessed in the institution is serious and against the welfare of the student community and State as a whole. This incident reflects some very unhealthy and malfunctioning within the institution,’ said AAPSU President Hawa Bagang.
The union has learnt through internal sources about life threat given to the Director and there are corruption and scams in the past, it said in a release while demanding the government to initiate an enquiry into the internal affairs owing to frequent transfer and posting of Directors to the premier institute.
The AAPSU learning about mismanagement and irregularities of the institute had demanded for a full fledged Director at the NIT and NERIST in 2017. The AAPSU on different occasions had called upon the State government and Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar for posting of regular Directors.
