ITANAGAR, Nov 15: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) delegation led by General Secretary Tobom Dai called on Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein at his office to apprise him regarding the purported winding up of engineering wing in non work department and appealed for reconsidering the same.

The AAPSU highlighted the apprehensions and uneasiness of more than 400 plus technical and non technical employees working in different flagship programmes. It is witnessed that the fund placed by parent department to Works Department for execution of various schemes, either the cost of the projects escalated beyond limit or completed without the satisfaction of client department. This is due to lack of cross monitoring by technical person from parent department, the team said.

More than 400 plus technical and non-technical employees are working under central flagship programmes like RMSA, khelo, swadesh darshan, SSA etc. on contractual basis. Winding up of engineering wing will render them jobless; with no option left will come to the streets for democratic movement, it further said.

The union in its release informed that the DyCM after patient hearing assured to look into the matter and work out ways for the interest of the indigenous people.
