ITANAGAR, Sep 14: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has decided to call 12-hour dawn-to-dusk statewide bandh on September 19next against Central Government purported decision to grant citizenship to Chakma Hajong in Arunachal.

The decision was taken today after an emergency meeting at the NEFA Club Building, Itanagar under the chairmanship of AAPSU General Secretary Tobom Dai. The house also demanded immediate deportation of Chakma and Hajong from the territory of Arunachal Pradesh before granting citizenship.

Castigating the central government for its indifference towards the indigenous populace of the state, the AAPSU appealed people from all walk of life to come out openly and support its movement against the arbitrary decision.

‘The message should go out loud and clear to the ears of central leaders that people of Arunachal will never tolerate such arbitrary, callous decision that has the potential to annihilate and erode it demography,’ Dai said in a statement.

The state government headed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and MoS for Home, Kiren Rijiju ought to play their part in the interest of the state rather than passing the buck to their predecessors, the Union opined.
