ITANAGAR, Feb 8: The two-day 9th edition of Arunachal Film Festival (AFF) organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations began here at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre, Itanagar, on Thursday celebrating the outstanding and creative cinematic talents of the state.
Secretary IPR, Nyali Ete while giving a brief insight of the festival emphasized on the quality rather than quantity of the participants in his address and urged all the participants to make use of the suggestion box by stating that constructive criticism is good for betterment of all.
Himansu Sekhar Khatua, Director of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, who attended the programme as Chief Guest spoke of the potential of Arunachal Pradesh regarding the talents in the field of Cinema. He accentuated the importance of these festivals and to have a film policy like any other states of the nation, urging the government of the State and the IPR department to create film policy to advocate the local film makers.
He also spoke about the upcoming Film and Television Institute of India, Jote, Itanagar, highlighting the benefits it will give to the filmmakers of the state. Director of IPR, Onyok Pertin and Deputy Director Marbang Ezing also spoke on the occasion. 
The program went on with the screening of an Award-winning short film by Director Stenzin Tankyong of Ladakh titled ‘Last days of summer’.
The first day of the Arunachal Film Festival featured a diverse lineup of regional films created by talents of the state, along with a notable film by late Director Bhupen Hazarikha, "Mera Dharam meri Maa," the first feature-length movie of Arunachal. The film was screened in the Mobile Digital Movie. Theatre alongside the best short film contenders for this year's festival.
The session ended with an Award winning film by Dominic Sangma (film Maker) ‘Rapture’.
Simultaneously, a discussion session was held at the Amphitheatre with Meenakshi Shedde (film critic and curator) and Dominic M. Sangma (film maker) as the moderator. Consecutively, at the other venue, the theme of the discussion was Film Future: Roadmap for Emerging Film makers. 
Another workshop took place on Colour Grading by Prithvi Bhuddavarapu (Colourist) as a resource person, where interested learners got to learn about the art of colour grading and its importance in film making. 
The day ended with a Panel Discussion and Q&A Sessions on Promotion & Marketing of Regional Films with the Panelists consisting of Dominic Sangma(film Maker), Tai Gungte (Actor), Jack Taniya Budh VP, (Protoccol FFA), and Mingkeng Osik,(President FTGA) and Sanju Dodum as the Moderator. 
The engaging panel discussions and Q&A sessions with filmmakers and industry propessionals provided valuable insights into the creative process, technical aspects of filmmaking, and the unique challenges and opportunities of producing, Promoting and Marketing of regional Films not only nationally but also regionally itself.
