ITANAGAR, Aug 16: Along with the rest of the country the 76th Independence Day was celebrated in Arunachal Pradesh with joy and enthusiasm.  The main celebration was held at IG Park in Itanagar.
On the auspicious occasion, Chief Minister Pema Khandu paid homage to all the great freedom fighters of Arunachal Pradesh.
During his Independence Day speech, Khandu extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and  said that "As we usher in the Amrit Kaal of our Azadi, today, we pay homage to all the freedom fighters of our country and draw inspiration from them while remembering their selfless sacrifices and heroic deeds in making Bharat Mata a free country."
CM Khandu expresses gratitude to the Army, Air Force, Navy, and paramilitary troops and police personnel for defending and maintaining the sovereignty of our country through all these years.  Khandu said that the teachers, farmers, doctors, health workers, leaders, engineers, laborers, administrators, play an important role while shaping free India into a robust nation.
Khandu further praised Prime Minister Modi's initiative of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, where all citizens are encouraged to hoist the National Flag at their homes to remember the sacrifices and imbibe the spirit of patriotism that this country is built upon.
This year is the Golden Jubilee year of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, marking fifty years of the naming of Arunachal Pradesh and getting a distinct political identity as the country celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav of India’s Independence.
CM took stock of the achievements and took a pledge to continue the growth trajectory to achieve the Prime Minister’s goal of "No citizen left behind." 
ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra hoisted  the National Flag at the Raj Bhavan here onthe occasion of 76th Independence Day.

The Governor saluted the Tricolour as the Echo Company of 33rd Battalion of IndoTibetan Border Police detachment, attached to Raj Bhavan, presented the guard of honour to the flag.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor extended Independence Day greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and fellow citizens of India. He also paid tributes to the unsung heroes of the freedom movement, the martyrs and braveheart soldiers.
Sharing his experience of pre-Independence days, the Governor said, “We have earned our freedom with great struggle and we must preserve and protect it. We must make our nation stronger, AtmaNirbhar or self-reliant, revive our cultural heritage and take pledge to work with Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas.”
Mishra also said, “The celebration of 75 years of Independence is not just an anniversary but the Prime Minister’s vision of 2047. This celebration aims to lay foundations for goals, which we aim to achieve when we celebrate the century of our Independence.”
He called upon the people of the State to reinforce the ‘Nation First’ spirit in themselves to make the country stronger, progressive and developed.
Earlier, the Governor and his better half Neelam Misra took part in a Prabhat Pheri along with school children and others, singing the patriotic song ‘Jhanda Ooncha Rahe Hamara’. 
ROING: The 76th Independence Day was celebrated at Roing, Lower Dibang Valley with MLA Mutchu Mithi unfurling the national flag at the general ground here amidst a large gathering of the public.
In his address to the people, Mithi enjoined the public to value and cherish the freedom that we are enjoying, stating that this independent nation has been passed on to us as an inheritance which needs to be nurtured and kept strong.
Citing the developments the country has made in the 75 years of its independence, the MLA highlighted the fast paced developments going on in Arunachal Pradesh and Lower Dibang Valley in particular. He informed that work on the 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project will begin soon and thanked all who had visualised the project and worked to see the idea materialised. He also spoke on the work being done to upgrade the infrastructure of the Higher Secondary School Roing, being implemented at a cost of 36 crores. 
The MLA assured the people that work would begin soon to repair the CC roads of Roing town at an estimated cost of 15 crores. He also spoke on the expectations of uninterrupted power supply in the district with the completion of work on the transmission lines from Chapakhowa, Assam being done by PGCIL and the supply of drinking water to all households under Jal Jeevan Mission.
MLA Mutchu Mithi reiterated the message of ‘Drugs Choro, Khel se Joro’ and the resolution of ‘Drugs free villages’ adopted by all GPCs in the district and called on the CBOs, NGOs, SHGs and the public to fight the drug menace and expressed his hope of seeing the district becomes drugs free in the near future.
Present during the programme were former CM Mukut Mithi, ZPC Obang Ngupok, DC Soumya Saurabh, SP J. K. Lego, PRI members and host of dignitaries.
The day also witnessed the introduction of Green Roing Project on Waste Management, appointment letter distribution to newly appointed Gaon Burahs, felicitation of Doctors and Nurses, felicitation of district CBSE class X and XII toppers, prize distribution of various events and a colourful culture programme.
