ITANAGAR, Oct 24: The Mobile Inspection Team (MIT) of Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs conducted surprise checking and inspection at Polo Colony, Dam Site, G-Extension and Super Market of Naharlagun here today under the leadership of D. Marbom, Deputy Controller HQ and detected 25 number of irregularities in weight and measures and package commodities.
21 cases of irregularities like use of unverified weights and measures instruments, non-display of verification certificate etc. were detected during surprise inspection. While checking of prices of packaged commodities after implementation of GST, the team also booked four number of cases for non-display of mandatory declaration on retail packages, smudging and overpricing of commodities in packages.
The team while conducting inspection also instructed the traders about correct use of weights and measures, necessity of timely renewal and verification of weights and measures. The Team advised the traders to refrain from any fraudulent practices including overcharging of commodities during retail sale, unauthorized charging of GST etc.
The Department urged the common consumers to keep vigil on any such mischievous trading activities and requested to report any such complaints to the nearest Legal Metrology Officer.
